At the October 26th Board meeting, the Marlington community was informed that a long time farmer, Janice Raber, has offered to donate half of the 23.5 acres owned to the school district. "I met with Mrs. Raber this week. She is a kind, passionate, and generous lady," Superintendnent Knoll explained. "She shared her family's history of farming and her willingness to give back to Marlington."
During the presentation, Superintendent Knoll shared that his only concern regarding the consolidated elementary school was the loss of farming acres where the school would be built. "I stand before you tonight with an answer to the question on the potential loss of farm land for our FFA students. This donation will help us meet and exceed the current number of acres our AG students are farming." The potential site for the consolidated elementary school is on the middle school/high school campus.
Superintendent Knoll reminded the audience that the Board still needs to officailly accept the donation and agree to purchase the remaining acres.
