It has been another great year at Lexington! We want to wish our 5th grade students good luck as they move to the Middle School. You will all be missed!

Some important dates to remember:

Thursday, September 1st-- Back to School BBQ 5:30-7:30

Tuesday, September 6th-- First Day of School for Grades 1 through 5 and Kindergarten Orientation

Wednesday, September 7th-- First Day for Kindergarten Students

Class lists will not be posted on the doors this school year. You will be receiving a letter in the mail from your child's homeroom teacher during the week of August 22nd.

Health and Wellness Day

Health and Wellness Day

…Bee Active……Bee Healthy……Bee Happy

On Saturday, April 16, 2011, the Lexington Elementary School Staff and PTO will be hosting our very first annual Lexington Elementary Health and Wellness Day. Our theme is: Bee Active… Bee Healthy… Bee Happy! We are very excited about this special event. Our goal is to promote healthy living habits for our students and their families. This event will be held at the Marlington High School Track and Moulin Center from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Every student and staff member will have the opportunity to take pledges. All monies collected will be donated to the Lexington PTO to provide incentive programs for the children of Lexington with a percentage being donated to juvenile diabetes. We invite the Marlington Community to come and join this exciting event.

Welcome Back

We hope you had a relaxing break and are ready to get 2011 off to a great start!

Next week will be our Magic of Math Week. The students will be participating in some fun math activities during the week. Please join us for our Math Nighton Thursday, January 13th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. here at Lexington. Several staff members will be here to enjoy some math activities with our students and families. When you arrive you will receive a map of the school showing which rooms will be open. We hope that you can join us for this fun family night.

Thank You

I would like to thank everyone for a great start to the 2010-2011 school year!

We had over 30 people attend our PTO meeting last week. Thank you for all of your continued support. Our goal this year is to continue to communicate and get as many families involved in the school as possible.

Please join us on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at Texas Roadhouse for our first Family Fun Night of the year. Remember to bring your friends and family. Don't forget your flyer to give to your server so they know you are from Lexington. If you need extra flyers you can pick them up in the office.

Our Zap-A-Snack fundraiser kickoff was last Thursday. All money raised is going to SMARTBoards, student activities, and technology. Thank you for your support!

1st Week of School

It has been a great start to the 2010-2011 school year! Thank you for all of your support as we start up another year. The students seem happy to be back and it is wonderful to see all the learning taking place already.

As we begin the school year I just wanted to remind our families that drop off begins at 8:25 a.m. If you must drop off your child before this time you may use Latchkey for them to attend. There are forms in the office if you need them.

Back to School

End of the Year

It is hard to believe that this is the last week of school for the 2009-2010 school year. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank our students, parents, staff and community for making this a successful school year at Lexington. The staff has been hard at work wrapping up this year and looking at new improvements for the year ahead.

Welcome Back

I hope that everyone was able to relax and spend some time with family and friends over Spring Break.

With the beautiful weather it sometimes becomes difficult for students to concentrate. Please talk with your child to let them know we still have 2 months to go before summer vacation.

Our second graders have been hard at work preparing for their upcoming Spring Program on April 22nd.

April Events:

  • April 13th--PTO Meeting in the cafeteria starting at 6:30 p.m.
  • April 15th--Family Fun Night at Texas Roadhouse 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (coupon needed)

Events at Lexington

We would like to thank our unbelievable PTO for another great event on Friday. Families were invited to attend a 50's Sock Hop with lots of different activities. Students were encouraged to wear their 50's clothes while dancing to the sounds of the 50's and today, with the help from our DJ. We had a hula-hoop contest, bubble-gum blowing contest, and a lots of winners for best costume. Refreshments were served from our very own Soda Shoppe.

Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students are preparing for the upcoming Ohio Achievement Assessment (OAA). Listed below are the dates each grade level will be testing. Please schedule necessary appointments around these dates.

5th Grade:
Reading--Monday, April 19th
Math--Wednesday, April 21st
Science--Friday, April 23rd

4th Grade:
Reading--Tuesday, April 27th
Math--Thursday, April 29th

3rd Grade:
Reading--Monday, April 26th
Math--Wednesday, April 28th

Upcoming Events:

  • On Friday, March 19, 2010 we will have our monthly Success Assembly. Continue to encourage your child to keep reading their AR books to receive the Power Reader Award. Our 4th grade students will also perform a few songs on their recorders for our school.
  • On March 23, 2010 Lifeshare will be here for their Blood Drive from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Just a reminder that there will be NO school on Friday, March 26, 2010.
