March Information

Marlington Middle School had another impressive turn out for our parent/teacher conferences. We appreciate the active roll that our parents are taking in their son/daughter’s education.

MMS girls and boys athletic banquets were held in February. I want to thank the parents and the athletic booster club for their support. I also want to congratulate the winter sports programs for an excellent season.

Marlington Middle School will be holding special tutoring sessions after school for students who need additional attention in preparation for the Ohio Achievement Test.

This started on March 15 and will be held 1-3 days a week for 6 weeks and will be for one hour each day.

The end of the 3rd nine weeks is on April 1st. Report cards should be sent home the following week.

Final payments for the 7th and 8thfield trips will be on April 15th.

Spring recess will be from April 21st – 25th.

Marlington Middle School held it’s second round of the Peer Protection Program. This program was on Cyber bullying; once video was over we gave out an anonymous survey about bullying online and here at the school to better help compare data from our first round.

8th grade students had an opportunity to take the NAEP test on March 1st. NAEP provides a common yardstick for measuring the progress of students’ education across the country. The nation's states, districts, and schools use differing standardized assessments to measure student progress, so their results are not directly comparable.

MMS piloting a site called AnonymousTips.com, which gives a parent or students a place to report an incident within the building without having to directly come see an administrator or teacher. The link is placed on our Website, under Marlington Middle School.

Upcoming Dates:

Week of March 15th

Tutoring for the 7th and 8th grade students has begun this week. Since this has started, there is a concern about students missing activites after school due to tutoring. When students are involved in after school tutoring they are excused from their activity until tutoring ends. Sixth grade tutoring information will be going home this week. This tutoring program is not to make up homework that is past due, but is inttended to educate students on the skills of how to break down and interpret questions that will appear on the April OAT tests in conjunction with the tests and quizzes that are given here at the Middle School by your child's regular education teacher. If there are any questions about this, please call me here at the Middle School.

Also, please remind your child that as the weather warms up and the sun starts to shine that school is far from over. Spring is upon us and students have a tendency to want to think that school is almost over and they begin to look forward to summer. It is extremely important for your child to stay on top of their studies and homework this time of year!

There is a levy meeting this Tuesday night at 7:00pm at the H.S. in the Library. Please try to attend this meeting as it is for all community members. Involvement is great, but please come just to listen or gather information about the upcoming levy to better inform community members that may have questions.
