I hope that our students and staff are enjoying these snow days.I admit I didn’t think that we would be using calamity days in December, but I guess you can’t predict Ohio weather.I have had people ask about calamity days, so just to set the record straight we are given three days this year by the State. This is two less than previous years and every day after three must be made up.
Hopefully we will be back in session tomorrow.Stay safe!
We have had an excellent start to our new school year. The kids are back and look refreshed from a restful summer. It is great to see them back in our hallways. With the start of school comes Open House, I hope you have had a chance to attend your child’s Open House and meet the fantastic staff we have.
This past week the members of our Strategic Planning Committee met to discuss the progress in the four goal areas. Check out the Saturday edition of The Alliance Review and read what was said that night. If you didn’t a chance please take the time to attend our next meeting, which will be held sometime later this fall.
I am happy to announce that all our fall athletic teams are up and running and we are experiencing a very successful start. this success does not take place by accident These kids and their coaches put in a tremendous amount of time in the off season. Please take some time from your busy schedule to come out and support the kids.
Later today I will be sending my first Alert Now message. This rapid notification system is another way that we are continuing to try to communicate with our community.
Have a great day!
It is hard to believe that we are ending another school year. I hope all of you enjoy the summer months ahead and are able to spend some quality time with your families. Here at the school we will be working on some major projects. Our middle school will have a new gym floor thanks to fundraising of the Marlingon Booster Club that was led by alumnus Rick Baxter. Along with the floor our administrative offices will be moved over to our middle school. With this move we will be simultaneously moving our Special Education Coordinator and also our school psychologists from the Berkey House which is located on Beeson Avenue and relocating their offices into the current administration building. We believe these moves will be a cost savings to the district and help us function at a more professional level.
Also this month lthe Marlington Board of Education will be weighing the next step in dealing with our financial situation. Obviously, with the failure of our levy the Board will have some very difficult decisions in the months ahead.
Have a great week!
