Miss Kulmala

Welcome to Music!

Kulmala Grad Pic
Hello there!

My name is Brenda Kulmala and I will be your child's General Music teacher at Marlboro Elementary this year. You may also see me working with students throughout the day as a Title 1 Tutor as well. I am SO excited to join the team at Marlboro and to meet all of my amazing students! I graduated from the University of Akron in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in music education, and went on to serve as a general substitute teacher for Field, Mogadore and Springfield school districts. I had the opportunity to serve as a long term general music substitute at OH Somers Elementary in the spring of 2020 as well.

I believe that music is for everyone; that ALL students can perform at a high level in a musical setting and it is my daily goal to support students in this endeavor. My favorite concepts to teach include musical literacy, rhythm and instrument families.

Please feel free to contact me at [email protected] with any questions or concerns.

A Note

Our year together will look different than years past. It is our goal to continue providing music education to our students with all protocols in place. Your child will do this by learning and performing rhythms using body percussion, learning about music from other cultures and moving to music in a safe way. We will not be starting recorder for fourth graders or band for fifth graders right now. We are hopeful to have the opportunity to begin these units next spring.
In my free time, I love spending time with my pets! Pictured to the right in Halloween costumes from last year are Arby (the sheltie), Kaia (the cat) and Max (the pomeranian).
