Welcome to the Oil & Gas Technologies Career Tech
Marlington High School - Room 313
I’m Ms. Herrick and excited you have stopped by my webpage to learn more about Marlington’s Career Tech program focusing on oil and gas technologies. To date, there are over 200,000 jobs in the oil and gas industry just in the state of Ohio, making a career in this field very manageable! Not all jobs are in the field on a well pad either; some consist of daily office operations, meeting with landowners, or studying rock formations in advance of drilling a well. The career opportunities are endless!
While the oil and gas program can be quite rewarding, it
also poses its share of associated risks. Students will be working with heavy machinery,
chemical products, and in varying weather conditions that always require
personal productive equipment and practices. At Marlington, we absolutely put
safety first and strive to put learning hand in hand with it. Students and
their parent/guardians will be provided with a safety contract that is required
to be signed prior to using tools, machinery, etc.
I am currently pursuing my master’s degree in education at Kent State University, received my bachelor’s degree in communication studies at Ohio University, and my associate’s degree from Hocking College in fish and wildlife sciences. After spending eight rewarding years with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, I wanted to share my knowledge with students. My oil and gas background derives from growing up in the heartland of Ohio’s industry as a native living near Columbiana, Stark, and Carroll counties. In my free time I enjoy training my bird dog, Remi, and anything outdoors!
