Alliance, OH: On June 26, 2020, the Marlington Local School District Board of Education held a special meeting to appoint and employ Dr. Michael Shreffler as the next Superintendent for the Marlington Local School.

From May 22, 2020 to June 26, 2020, the Marlington School Board has been working in collaboration with the Stark County Educational Service Center to search for a new superintendent. Among the eleven potential candidates presented to the Marlington School Board for consideration by the Stark County Educational Service Center, Dr. Shreffler rose to the top of the list for all five members of the Marlington School Board.

“Dr. Shreffler brings a wealth of experience to Marlington,” School Board Member Scott Mason said. “I look forward to working with him to move our district forward.”

“Dr. Shreffler’s overall administrative experience as a superintendent, curriculum director and principal made him a great choice for Marlington,” School Board President Carolyn Gabric said. “We believe he has the energy and expertise necessary to work collaboratively with the board, the staff and the community in order to move our district forward in a positive way.  Dr. Shreffler has outstanding skills in communication, public engagement and fiscal management, and is dedicated to doing what is best for our students.”

As Superintendent, Dr. Shreffler will work side-by-side with Treasurer Kathryn E. Brugger, who said, “After a lot of careful consideration, it is nice to see the Board arriving at a decision on their new superintendent and I am looking forward to working with my new partner.”

It is my pleasure to be able to serve the community as Superintendent and become a part of the district’s rich tradition of excellence. I believe my talents and experiences as an educator will be an asset to the district. I look forward to meeting and working with the administration and staff. Together we will meet the challenges of twenty first century education!”
