2014 Scholarship Winners
 

Junior Achievement of East Central Ohio Awards $4,250 in Scholarships
 
 Junior Achievement of East Central Ohio congratulates its 2014 scholarship winners Sarah White, Jordan Vernables and Austin Yoders.  These seniors are among 13,000 students who participated in Junior Achievement programs during the 2013-14 school year in the tri-county area of Stark, Tuscarawas and Carroll counties.

     Senior students with a 3.0 grade point average who demonstrate enthusiasm for work readiness, entrepreneurship, financial literacy or who have chosen a career path as a result of participation in a  Junior Achievement program  are encouraged to apply for this annual scholarship.

 
     Jordan Venables, of Marlington High School awarded a $1,250 Junior Achievement scholarship. Venables  participated in JA Titan, JA Company Program, and JA Business Ethics during high school.  He will continue his education at Kent State University Stark Honors Program.

     Austin Yoders, of Marlington High School received a $1,000 Junior Achievement scholarship.  He participated in JA Titan, JA Company Program, and JA Business Ethics.  He will continue his education at Kent State University Stark Campus Honors Program.

     JA programs are taught by trained business volunteers  who deliver a hands-on curriculum that help students like White, Venables, and Yoder connect what they are learning in the classroom to the real world of work. JA programs elevate students potentional and empower them to own their economic success.   JA donors that provided fincial support for programing in the 2013-2014 school year in the Marlington area include Coastal Pet Products, Inc. and Scott Robertson. JA donors in the Fairless area include Polymer Packaging Inc., Shearers Foods, Vail Packaging, Brewster Cheese, and Wheeling Railroad. We thank them for their support.

By participating in Junior Achievement throughout their academic careers  these young persons gained economic education and learned how businesses work , while developing key leadership and communication skills that will help with their personal advancement in college.
