Mrs. Lyden

Welcome!

Hello, Marlington!  My name is Wendy Lyden, and the 2023-2024 school year will be my first year in the district as a teacher; however, I have been serving as a literacy consultant in your district since 2020.  I will now serve as an Intervention Specialist for the third grade.

I graduated with my undergraduate degrees in Elementary and Special Education in 1986 from Youngstown State University. I worked for the Youngstown City School district as an elementary and special education teacher and literacy coach for 28 years. Additionally, I earned my Master’s degree in Literacy from Youngstown State in 2012.  I also completed the Ohio State University Literacy Collaborative program in literacy coaching in 2012.

After leaving Youngstown City Schools, I worked for five years as literacy supervisor in the Teaching and Learning Department for the Mahoning County Educational Service Center.  I went on to spend three years working as a literacy consultant for a private consulting company called Carefree Education Service Group.

Besides my professional role as a teacher, and my passion for literacy and teaching children how to read and write, I have several other passions and interests outside of school. I volunteer at Mill Creek Park in Mahoning County in the Educational Department where I teach classes to children about all things nature. I spend as much time outside in nature that I can – hiking and tending to my flower and vegetable gardens.  The role I cherish the most is being a mom to my three grown children and a grandmom to their dogs.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions through our Parent Square account or email me at [email protected].

I look forward to a fantastic school year!
