Hello and welcome to my page!
I just completed my 19th year of teaching. I have been at Lexington Elementary my entire teaching career. I have taught Title 1 students, 1st grade, a 2nd/3rd grade combination class, 2nd grade and I've been in 3rd grade the majority of my career. My favorite is 3rd grade because I love that the students come to you ready to improve their reading and writing and they are excited about learning new information.
I graduated from Kent State University with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and my Master's Degree in Technology Integration. In September, my husband and I will celebrate 35 years of marriage. We have two sons, one who is an Engineer at Trilogy Plastics here in Alliance and our younger son is an RN who does travel nursing. His career has taken him to South Carolina and California so far. My husband and I are also proud grandparents to a fourth grader and twins going into first grade this year. We also have our own "furkid", Taz--a Shiloh Shepherd who brings us a lot of goofy joy each day and our grand "furkid", Vader, a black German Shepherd who we are temporarily taking care of and belongs to our son who is travel nursing. In my time away from school, I am very involved in photography and building my experience in becoming a professional photographer when I retire from teaching. I also enjoy spending time with our grandchildren, reading, swimming, spending time at the beach, working with Taz and Vader and spending time with my husband.
I teach reading, writing, spelling, grammar, and social studies. I work very hard to integrate social studies into our reading and writing, as well as, using technology into the lessons so students are involved and better able to stay on task with their assignments.
I hope you enjoy your third grade year and learn a lot!
