Patricia Polacco

Patricia Polacco is a prolific author who often writes about times in her life.  From stories about her Babushka (grandmother) to an inspirational teacher, Mr. Falker, Ms. Polacco is a wonderful author and writes very interesting stories.

Laura Ingalls Wilder

Ms. Wilder is one of my favorite authors. She is also an author who has written about her life and growing up in Kansas and Wisconsin. Her books are about a much simpler and quieter time.

Cynthia Rylant

Cynthia Rylant is the well-knownauthor of the Henry and Mudge series.  Ms. Rylant also writes books such as "The Relatives Came", "When I Was Young in the Mountains".  I love using these books in the classroom to have the students connect their lives to a text.  The story, "The Relatives Came" reminds me of our family reunions.

Chris Van Allsburgh

Mr. Van Allsburgh has written some very interesting and thought-provoking stories.  Many of his books have been made into popular movies; ie: "The Polar Express" and "Jumanji".  His illustrations have also won many awards and make his books come "alive".

Patricia MacLachlan

Patricia MacLachlan is probably most known for her famous book "Sarah, Plain and Tall".  She has also written follow-up titles to "Sarah...".  The story of "Sarah, Plain and Tall" is one we read together in class.

Robert Munsch

One of the most humorous authors I have ever read has to be Robert Munsch.  His stories of children and parents getting themselves into the most ridiculous predicaments leads to much laughter.  Although, the book I love most from him is one that makes me cry now that I'm the mother of two adult children and that is "Love You Forever".  I cannot read this one to the students without crying.
