Hello, parents and students!
I am thrilled to be teaching 8th grade science at Marlington Middle School! This is my 9th year at Marlington. I taught 6th grade math for 6 years and now I'm on year 3 of 8th grade science. I have been married to my wife, Geri, for 6 years. We have two little ones at home - Winston and Wesley (you can find their picture below!)
In addition to teaching 8th grade science, I also run the MMS Environmental Club. This year, we are focusing on maintaining and extending the trail behind the school. That's right, there's a trail back there! We have ambitious plans to create a much longer loop. We are also building and creating outdoor learning areas with hybrid picnic table/benches, hammock posts, removable whiteboards, etc.
In my free time, my wife and I love to travel, hike, go whitewater rafting or climbing....pretty much anything outdoors. We also love to cook and find new places to explore in our community.
Teaching 8th graders is very special to me. For the first two years that I taught 8th grade science, I had already had half of my students before in 6th grade math. Seeing their growth has made me so excited to see what they accomplish in high school and beyond!
If you made it this far, I appreciate it! Almost finished :)
Because we utilize Schoology and Parent Square in my class, please refer to both for resources and updates.
